Theft Protection, also known as a theft waiver, is a type of coverage offered by car rental suppliers that limits your financial liability in the event that the rental car is stolen.
It typically covers the value of the vehicle and any damage incurred as a result of the theft up to the deductible/excess.
Usually, you’ll need to provide a police report and the car’s key to avoid being liable for the full value of the vehicle. You should also remember that theft protection only covers the vehicle itself and not any of your personal belongings that may have been stolen with it.
